WLRN is an advocate for early childhood education and is recognized as the leading PBS Ready To Learn station in South Florida. WLRN’s Public television Stations Channel 17.1 and WLRN Learn carry award-winning PBS children’s programming and station staff provides vital educational outreach and parenting information. WLRN Ready To Learn, in partnership with local community organizations, conducts free workshops on how to make learning fun so children can start school ready to learn.WLRN is the leading provider of instructional media for Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the 4th largest school district in the country. With a multi-channel, district-wide television network; video on demand capability; and a video lending library, WLRN Instructional Television provides teachers and students with educational content and services that support and enhance curriculum instruction.
WLRN is also the South Florida provider for PBS TeacherLine, high quality, online professional development courses for educators. Developed through a partnership with PBS member stations, PBS TeacherLine makes learning fun, flexible and collaborative, creating opportunities for teachers to gain strategies and resources that will positively impact their effectiveness in the classroom.
