Today on the Florida Roundup, the federal government offers Florida $1 billion for the Low Income Pool, a program that funds healthcare costs for the uninsured. With ten days left for the special legislative session to begin, is the federal offer enough to relieve the tension in Tallahassee between the House and Senate?

Miami Beach Police Chief Dan Oates sets forth a policy to compel department employees to report inappropriate emails to Internal Affairs. That's after Miami Beach uncovered hundreds of racist, sexist and pornographic emails between officers. How will the department move forward?

Fort Lauderdale Police Chief Frank Adderley experienced much the same earlier this year, when racist text messages resulted in the resignation of one officer and the firing of three others.

Finally, the state allows districts to choose whether to use third grade test scores to determine promotion of students to fourth grade. Miami-Dade and Broward county schools decided to opt out from using the test scores.

Host Tom Hudson is joined by WUSF health editor Mary Shedden, WLRN's Wilson Sayre, Tristram Korten from the Florida Center for Investigative Reporting, Miami Beach Police Chief Dan Oates, Fort Lauderdale Police Chief Frank Adderley, WLRN education reporter John O'Connor, Karen Yi of the Sun Sentinel and Christina Veiga of the Miami Herald.
