Nicaragua Crisis, Edward Villella Returns To Miami & 50th Anniversary of Iconic Miami Theatre

Protestors want to see the end of Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega's dictatorship. This week, four more people died in confrontations between Nicaraguan security forces and protesters. Roughly 300 people have been killed since protests began in April, prompting international condemnation and calls for Ortega to step down. Sundial talked to WLRN’s Latin American reporter Tim Padgett about the violence in Nicaragua.

The former artistic director of Miami City Ballet returns to South Florida to coach dancers for an upcoming performance with Dimensions Ballet Theatre of Miami. Edward Villella was one of the Miami City Ballet's founders and helped shape the company. Villella is considered one of America’s great male ballet dancers. Villella joined Sundial from the dance studios to talk about his legacy and the ballets he's coaching.

The Byron Carlyle theatre opened 50 years ago, bringing top Hollywood films to Miami Beach. Carlyle shut down in 2001. In 2014, Miami’s O Cinema reopened the iconic theater to the public. O Cinema now features independent films from around the world. In celebration of the theater’s 50th Anniversary, O Cinema is screening the iconic cartoon film about the Beatles, "Yellow Submarine." Kareem Tabsch of O Cinema Miami joined Sundial to talk about the iconic Miami Beach theater.
