He recently embarked on a new project,  painting portraits for a single cause.  What resulted was Guardians of the Everglades, a series of 10 portraits of people that he sees as the protectors of the Everglades.

Il Volo We Are Love

The three, young Italian tenors, Piero Barone (19), Ignazio Boschetto(18) and Gianluca Ginoble (17) of Il Volo proved to win the hearts of PBS viewers nationwide in March 2012 with more than 2,100 broadcasts of their DPTV special  from the Detroit Opera House, Il Volo Takes  Flight. Now, they return with their second PBS special, Il Volo We Are Love, filmed at The Fillmore on Miami Beach in March.

Clowning Around!

Thousands of participants take to the streets of Manhattan to trek 2 ½ miles of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade showcasing giant balloons, spectacular floats, sensational performances and mingling throughout the parade are hundreds of crowd pleasing clowns.

Two of these participants are longtime veteran clowns and Fort Lauderdale residents, Charles and Kitty Tatelbaum who are 2011 graduates of Clown U, sponsored by the Big Apple Circus. They have participated as clowns in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade for over 10 years.

Band On The Run!

As part of their journey to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Tarpon Springs High School Marching Band put on a 5K fundraising event called BAND ON THE RUN.  Faculty, parents, students and the community laced up their shoes and hit the pavement in support of the cause.  The band must raise $400,000 for their trip to New York and have scheduled a series of fundraising events throughout the next few months.  Keep checking back to monitor their progress!

How WLRN Will Celebrate 'Everglades Day' Throughout April

On Sunday, April 7th, Florida will celebrate its first official “Everglades Day.” Established by the Florida Legislature, Everglades Day honors South Florida’s unique wetland ecosystem, the wild inhabitants who live there and all the passionate Floridians working to conserve this magical place.

As a tribute, WLRN will run a month-long TV and radio series entitled, "Guardians of the Everglades" which will profile people from a variety of different backgrounds but who are bound by a common desire to save our state's national treasure for future generations.
