Friends are the people in life you can really count on. And for WLRN, our Friends are the viewers and listeners we count on to help us broadcast high quality programming.
The Friends of WLRN encompasses more than 16,000 families and individuals from all over South Florida, along with many businesses, which provide the contributions that are a crucial source of unrestricted funding for WLRN. In return, our Friends look to WLRN to entertain them, tell their stories, keep them informed and lift their spirits.
Your contribution enables us to bring you the best in national and local programs -- all of the programs that you love require significant investments on our part. Our national program schedules bring you the best from PBS, NPR, PRI, and other national television and radio program sources, but we must pay high annual fees to obtain these programs on your behalf. Your direct financial support is essential.
At the regional level, we produce a wide array of programs that focus on issues and highlights from communities all across our coverage area. Our Radio news
services not only bring you comprehensive daily coverage, but also
provide insight and thoughtful discussion on important topics affecting our lives, the education of our children, and the state of our world. It doesn’t stop there; both our Radio and Television Departments have a hand in training student interns in the field of production, camera operation, editing, and engineering who just may be future journalists you’ll hear on NPR and PBS.
Our television station and radio station maintain separate budgets and separate memberships.
When you make a contribution directly to Channel 17 or 91.3 FM, your funds have a direct and immediate effect on our programming capabilities.
