Stop. Evacuate And Listen: Hurricane Matthew Through The Eyes Of Vanilla Ice

@vanillaice
Vanilla Ice poses with a copy of today's paper after he rode out Hurricane Matthew

Despite Governor Rick Scott telling Floridians to "evacuate, evacuate, evacuate" before Hurricane Matthew was expected to hit, not all who live in evacuation zones heeded his warnings

One such South Florida resident was Robert Matthew Van Winkle, also known as rapper Vanilla Ice.

Ice, who's responsible for the 90's anthem "Ice, Ice, Baby" has had a rough week.

Tuesday evening he was booted off the television dancing competition Dancing With The Stars.

Shortly after, he tweeted to his followers thanking them for their support. But the struggles didn't end there, nor did the tweets.

After his elimination, Ice flew from Los Angeles to his home in Palm Beach; only to be greeted by Hurricane Matthew.

Like many South Floridians, the first thing affected by the hurricane was his weekend plans.

But the forecasts, warnings and cancelations didn't scare him away.

Yep, he decided to ride out the storm. And he planned to keep us updated. Which he did.

Based on his tweets, Ice's home is in one of Palm Beach County's designated mandatory evacuation zones

He gave a first-hand account of what it was like on the coast during the storm.

His tweets got the attention of fellow 90's phenom, Donnie Wahlberg, who chimed in with his concerns.

Luckily Palm Beach wasn't as severely impacted as original forecasts predicted.

Hopefully Vanilla Ice avoids putting himself in harms way throughout future storms, but we're glad he made it through this one unscathed.
