Want to get a COVID-19 vaccine or booster in South Florida? Here's where and how to do it

The Miami Herald
A worker holds a bottle of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, as the mass public vaccination program gets underway at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, England, Tuesday Dec. 8, 2020. The CDC on Saturday released guidance on vaccination for those with preexisting conditions.

Vaccinations against COVID-19 are underway in South Florida. We continue to update this site as more changes take place.

People age 12 and older are now eligible to receive the two-dose Pfizer vaccines, and people 18 and older may get the two-dose Moderna and one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccines.

Florida is also no longer requiring proof of residency requirement — you can read the state's public health advisory here. In addition to residents, any person in Florida who's in the state "for the purpose of providing goods or services for the benefit of residents and visitors of the state" may get vaccinated.

Below we've compiled information to receive the vaccines and on what you'll need to complete the process.

Most sites do not require appointments, but if you prefer to have one, you can now make your own for state and Miami-Dade County sites.

UPDATE as of Oct. 4: Several locations are now offering third doses, or boosters, of the Pfizer vaccine including these pharmacies and stores: Publix, Walgreens, CVS, Winn-Dixie and Walmart.

Additionally, several vaccine sites in Miami-Dade and Broward counties are offering booster doses for anyone older than 65, anyone aged 18 to 64 with underlying medical conditions or who face increased risk due to their occupation.

WLRN is committed to providing South Florida with trusted news and information. In these uncertain times, our mission is more vital than ever. Your support makes it possible. Please donate today. Thank you.
