Miami-Dade superintendent is leaving South Florida to lead LA Unified School District

Miami-Dade County Public Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho is leaving the job he has held for the past 13 years to head the Los Angeles Unified School District in California, The LA school board announced during its meeting Thursday.

Carvalho, 57, has been Miami-Dade superintendent since 2008.

An LA Unified School District spokesperson also declined to comment on the LA Times story.
