How to Make a Gift in Your Will or Living Trust to WLRN

  1. Contact your attorney to request a change to your will or the creation of a codicil.
  2. There are several ways to include a gift to WLRN in your will or living trust.
    • Make a flexible gift by leaving a percentage of your estate to WLRN.
    • Leave a fixed amount to WLRN.
  3. Make your legacy gift a contingent, or backup bequest, that only takes effect if other beneficiaries are not able to receive their gifts in order to provide for your family before making a gift to WLRN.
  4. Use the following language for your will or living trust:
    1. "I give to Friends of WLRN, Inc., a Florida nonprofit corporation that is recognized as exempt from tax under 501(c)(3), currently located at 172 NE 15th Street, Miami, FL 33132, [all (or ________ percentage) of my residuary estate] or [the sum of $ _________] to be used for its general purposes."
  5. Share the Tax ID number and the mailing address with your attorney.

BENEFICIARY DESIGNATION - FUTURE GIFT FROM YOUR RETIREMENT OR FINANCIAL ACCOUNT

You can make an impact on the future of WLRN and public media by providing now for a future gift through your retirement account, life insurance policy, bank or brokerage accounts or donor advised fund. Many people find naming WLRN as a beneficiary to be the easiest and most effective way to make a meaningful charitable gift, preferring the flexibility and ease a designation provides by being easily updated at any time.

How to Make Beneficiary Designation

How to designate WLRN as a beneficiary in your retirement account or other financial account

  1. You can name the Friends of WLRN as the beneficiary of all or some percentage of a qualifying retirement plan through a beneficiary designation form. After your lifetime, the funds pass to Friends of WLRN, tax-free.

  2. Use the following information on the beneficiary designation form:

  3. You can change or update your beneficiary designations at any time if your needs or goals change.
  4. You can also name Friends of WLRN as a contingent beneficiary, so that we only receive a gift if primary beneficiaries are not able to receive the assets.
