Friday 8pm AN IDEAL HUSBAND (1947) A romantic comedy based on the 1895 stage play by Oscar Wilde. The film revolves around blackmail and political corruption, and touches on the themes of public and private honor. The action is set in London, in "the present", and takes place over the course of twenty-four hours.
A prominent politician is preparing to expose a financial scandal. But then a woman who has invested heavily in the shady venture threatens to uncover a damaging secret in the politician's past if he exposes the speculation as a fraud. His problem is compounded by his wife's intolerance of the slightest character flaws.

- The original Broadway production of "An Ideal Husband" by Oscar Wilde opened at the Lyceum Theatre on March 12, 1895. Broadway revivals were produced in 1918 and 1996.
- Twelve British studio hairdressers and make-up men went on strike protesting Paulette Goddard's use of her own hairdresser during the production of An Ideal Husband (1947).
