Racing May Be Coming To Downtown Miami

FIA Formula E

Next March, Formula race cars could be tearing up the streets of downtown Miami.

Don't expect the ear-busting decibels of 800-horse power Formula 1 engines. These are the electric race cars that sound more like battery-operated toys.

Monday, Miami leaders along with the CEO of Formula E Holdings announced the March 14 race known as the 2015 FIA Formula E Miami ePrix.

Thecourse will begin in the southbound lanes of Biscayne Boulevard between Northeast Seventh and Eighth streets. It will eventually loop around Biscayne Boulevard toward the American Airlines arena.

Miami used to be host of the Miami Grand Prix for ten years from 1983 to 1993. With the growth of the city will downtown be able to handle a day-long race, even if it is quiet?
