Broward School board members will take a $3,500 cut in salary due to new state law.

The job of School Board member has now become less lucrative in some South Florida counties.

Broward School Board members will have their salaries reduced by $3,500; in Palm Beach County it’ll be $3,700, due to a change in state law, which says School Board members can’t be paid more than first-year teachers.

That means School Board members are now being paid $41,233 in Broward and $41,000 in Palm Beach, down from $44,749 in both counties. Miami-Dade salaries for this year are $44,892, which are lower than beginning teacher salaries of $46,125, a spokeswoman said.
