The Biscayne Aquifer is a long rock formation with tiny holes that allow for water from various sources to flow into it. Located below South Florida, it stores groundwater and is the main source of drinking water for Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties. But climate change threatens the aquifer. Christopher Flavelle covers climate change and adaptation policy for Bloomberg News and joined Sundial to talk about the threats to South Florida’s drinking water.

Overtown is one of Miami’s oldest and most culturally rich neighborhoods. But it's seen a dramatic transformation over the past several decades and now faces problems with affordable housing, crime and gentrification. Urban Philanthropies is a nonprofit fighting to preserve Overtown’s historic qualities and generations of community. The New Tropic will host a culinary tour of Overtown’s iconic soul food restaurants. Urban Philanthropies Assistant Director Keon Williams and New Tropic director Ariel Zirulnick joined Sundial to talk about the tour and Overtown’s history. The event is sponsored by the Greater Miami Convention and Visitor's Bureau (GMCVB), in partnership with The New Tropic. Other sponsors are Miami Innovation District and the Southeast Overtown/Park West CRA.

Anthony Francis wanted to bring improv to Delray Beach. So about three years ago, he launched a school called Improv U. At first, the school was held at a local park where Francis taught a handful of students, but now there are about 200 active members and two part-time instructors. Improv U is organizing the third annual Palm Beach Improv Festival on Thursday, Sept. 6. At the festival, improv artists from across South Florida will perform and give workshops. Francis and Rebecca Loveless, a teacher at the school, joined Sundial to talk about the improv community in South Florida.

And more than 100 South Florida arts and cultural organizations will take over the Arsht center this weekend at the annual Arts Launchevent, featuring ballet and acting lessons, comic-con festivities, a farmers market, cooking demonstrations, food trucks, a silent disco and author conversations. South Florida residents will also be able to learn more about the many offerings for the upcoming arts season. The Arsht Center's director of education and community engagement, Jairo Ontiveros, joined Sundial to talk about the event this weekend. Arts Launch will be Sept. 8 at the Arsht Center for Performing Arts from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

After the show Francis and Loveless joined Sundial host Luis Hernandez for a Facebook Live.
