It’s going to be a marathon for South Florida voters this general election. They’ll run into a long ballot: several candidates for state and local office, a dozen proposed constitutional amendments and all the local referenda.
Hollywood residents have the longest ballot in Broward County. They’ll decide on a countywide question, 11 charter amendments and nine local items.
It’s no different across the region.
Voters in the tiny Miami municipality of North Bay Village have 16 of their own items up for consideration. And Palm Beach County voters will weigh in on a property tax increase, which would go toward teacher pay and improving school safety.
WLRN has created a voter’s guide to help you sort out all the questions in your ballot. It covers Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe and Palm Beach counties and allows for searches by county, municipality and zip code. For all entries, there's the question, explanation and link to more context.
WLRN’s digital director Teresa Frontado and WLRN reporter Caitie Switalski join host Tom Hudson on the South Florida Roundup. They discuss navigating the guide and how it came together. You can hear their conversation in the audio above or go straight to 2018 WLRN's voter's guide here.
