WATCH: President Trump's Press Conference At The U.N.

Associated Press
President Donald Trump leaves the United Nations Security Council chambers during the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly, at U.N. headquarters, Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018.

President Donald Trump will hold a news conference at 5 p.m. on Wednesday,  following the United Nations General Assembly in New York City.

In a speech Tuesday, Trump defended his "America First" agenda and touted the "tremendous progress" made in negotiations with North Korea.

"The United States is a stronger, safer and richer country than it was when I assumed office less than two years ago," Trump declared. "We are standing up for America and the American people, and we are also standing up for the world."

Trump has withdrawn the U.S. from the Iran nuclear dealthe Paris climate accord and an Asia-Pacific trade pact, while imposing steep tariffs on both allies and adversaries. He insisted his focus on American "sovereignty" has paid off, helping to foster both peace and prosperity.

"The United States will not tell you how to live or work or worship," Trump told the international assembly. "We only ask that you honor our sovereignty in return."

The press conference comes a day before Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, faces questions from the Senate Judiciary Committee after two women accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct.
