10/07/13 - Monday’s Topical Currents is with political culture professor Michael Stewart Foley. He’s written FRONT PORCH POLITICS: The Forgotten Heyday of American Activism in the 1970s and 1980s. Most people remember the 1960s as the decade of activism, but Foley contends the 1970s and 1980s were equally important. The modern environmental movement was born, school busing and abortion issues aroused passions, and conservatives pushed through tax cuts and a “trickle down” economy. In the second half of the program, Ariel Gonzalez speaks with author Kate Christensen about Blue Plate Special: An Autobiography of My Appetites. Tune for Topical Currents Monday at 1pm.
