04/04/16 -  Monday’s Topical Currents discusses South Florida environmental issues, with the Executive Director of the South Florida Wildlands Association, Matthew Schwartz.

A number of South Florida Mayors—including Miami’s—have joined in opposition to FPL’s plan to add two nuclear reactors at South Miami-Dade’s Turkey Point facility.

Also debated is increased oil activity in the Big Cypress Preserve, as well as new power lines slated to cross Everglades National Park.

That’s Topical Currents . . . Monday at 1pm.

WLRN Radio's Joseph Cooper says producing and hosting Topical Currents is the most rewarding experience of his long radio career, which began at the University of Missouri School of Journalism in the 1970s.
Richard Ives came to WLRN in September 2000 to begin a new career in radio. Born in Fort Lauderdale, his family moved to Long Island, New York, where he grew up.
