South Florida will be under a flood watch Monday from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The National Weather Service said they are expecting 1 to 3 inches of rain by Thursday morning, with some isolated areas possibly seeing 5 to 7 inches or more.
The heaviest rainfall is expected this afternoon and evening.
"There is an area of low pressure moving across the Florida peninsula from west to east, which is bringing a lot of moisture into the area and a lot of instability," Meteorologist Ana Torres-Vazquez said.
"That moisture and instability are going to allow for repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms to move across South Florida throughout the day [Monday], bringing heavy rain, bringing a lot of lightning, potentially gusty winds."
Torres-Vazquez also said that there could be enough lingering moisture Tuesday that allows for a few more rounds of showers and thunderstorms to move across the area.
