After two weeks and three recounts in statewide races, on Tuesday, the state’s elections canvassing commission officially signed off on Florida’s election results.

And while the state's new political leadership is now transitioning into office, one political leader is getting ready to leave her post.

Broward County Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes submitted her resignation in a letter to Governor and now Senator-elect Rick Scott. Sun Sentinel Broward Politics Reporter Anthony Man joined Sundial to talk about Snipes’ leadership while in office and what led her to resign.

The Sundial book club’s October title is “Southernmost” by author Silas House. The book  follows the story of Asher who takes extreme measures and kidnaps his son when he loses parental custody in court.

Some of the book's themes are LGBT rights, personal identity, finding home in new places and family dynamics. Monroe County Librarian Michael Nelson and Sundial Producer Chris Remington make up November's panel of readers, plus we air social media comments and audio messages from book club members.

Lastly — it's Thanksgiving Eve.

Turkey. Mashed potatoes. Green bean casserole. These are staple items on a traditional Thanksgiving menu. But how does South Florida spice up Thanksgiving?

Maybe your family trades mashed potatoes for rice and beans or yucca fries. Maybe you swap the meat for vegetarian options. South Florida chef and food author Norman Van Aken and Edible South Florida Editor Gretchen Schmidt joined Sundial to talk about what makes Thanksgiving in our region unique and what tips you need for your meal this year.
