Fort Lauderdale Water Plant Could Fail If Hurricane Strikes
Hurricane Dorian’s devastation on the Bahamas put the city of Fort Lauderdale on high alert. A severe storm could destroy the city’s old water treatment plant, sewage and pipes, and leave residents without a source of drinking water. A Bahamas Update Post-hurricane
Federal response relief efforts post-hurricane Dorian are underway. Last week, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that Floridians have donated more than $11 million to relief efforts. A new investigation from the Guardian finds that while Republican Sen. Rick Scott was governor of Florida his administration said "no" to $70 million in federal funds available for fighting the state’s HIV crisis. The History Of Pelican Island
Pelican Island, just off the coast from Biscayne Bay near North Bay Village, is a tiny three-acre reserve. and it holds an important place in U.S. History. In 1903, the island became the nation’s first designated National Wildlife Refuge by President Theodore Roosevelt. Jeremy Edwardson, deputy project leader at the Everglades Headwaters National Wildlife Refuge Complex, which includes Pelican Island, joined Sundial to talk about the island's history.
