The COVID-19 pandemic has hovered over just about every aspect of our lives and our local economy for the past six months.
But the pandemic hasn’t stopped things like elections from happening, and it won’t stop county commissions from discussing the budget for the upcoming 2021 fiscal year.

Budget hearings will still happen twice before cities and county governments finalize their budgets at the end of the month but things will look a bit different as these meetings are hosted online. Officials will have to grapple with budget deficits due to unplanned expenses and lost revenue, and Black Lives Matter protests and demonstrations bring new attention to how funds are allocated to things like police departments, housing solutions and social services.
With all that in mind, we wanted to round up information on when budget hearings are happening across South Florida, how you can learn more about budget proposals, and participate in the budget process.
