Before joining the WLRN newsroom, Lance served as director and storytelling producer at The New Tropic — a hyperlocal news outlet that covers South Florida culture, civic engagement and more through a daily newsletter. Before that Lance was a general assignment and municipal government reporter at The Miami Herald covering the day-to-day happenings of various city halls, along with other enterprise and breaking news coverage.
He's also previously contributed reporting to WLRN and was a finalist for a 2014 Associated Press Broacasters Award for a feature story on two die-hard Miami Marlins fans.
Lance earned a bachelor's degree from Morehouse College in Atlanta and a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University. And as a South Florida native he's also proud to say that he's an alumnus of Miami Northwestern Senior High School.
