Capital Gazette Shooting: ‘Reading Rob’ Is Bittersweet Way To Mark Anniversary

The Palm Beach Post
June 28 marks one year since former Palm Beach Post staff writer Rob Hiaasen and four colleagues were killed in a newsroom.

On Friday, I’ll be observing “Reading Rob Day.”

I’m going to be wallowing in the words of my old friend, Rob Hiaasen, who was one of the five people shot and killed a year ago on June 28 by a gunman who walked into The Capital Gazette newsroom in Annapolis, Md.

Some people may remember Rob from the days he was a gifted feature writer here at The Palm Beach Post from 1987 to 1993. He went on to write features for The Baltimore Sun and eventually to meet his fate as an editor at the Annapolis newspaper.

Read some of Rob Hiaasen's work here.
