Historic South Florida Train Station Goes Up In Smoke

Delray Beach Fire-Rescue
The historic but abandoned train station in Delray Beach caught fire Tuesday and appeared to have significant damage.

One firefighter required hospital treatment while colleagues battled a stubborn blaze in Delray Beach’s abandoned but historic train station near Interstate 95 and Atlantic Avenue.

The injuries were not life-threatening, officials said. Several fire engines were at the scene when the fire broke out about 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Flames appeared to be shooting through the structure’s roof as thick plumes of smoke were visible across I-95, Atlantic Avenue and other nearby parts of the city.
