It's been almost a year and a half since Hurricane Irma. And people who qualify still have a couple weeks to register for help from a program that will help pay for repairs.

The Florida Keys took a direct hit from Hurricane Irma back in September 2017. So Monroe County got $50 million set aside in the Rebuild Florida grant program.

The money can be used to rebuild, repair and elevate houses that were damaged by the storm. Low and moderate income households are eligible.

The deadline to register is March 29. So far more than $1,000 households in the Keys have registered.

Outreach workers are stationed outside the Winn-Dixie grocery store on Big Pine Key this week. You can also find out more and register online at rebuildflorida.gov, by phone at 844-833-1010 or at the Rebuild Florida center in Marathon, 2796 Overseas Highway.
