Outages in power and internet are forcing many South Florida residents to go "old school" and rely on just the telephone. We have compiled a list of indispensable numbers that you need to have on hand to report problems in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.

Sustained damage during Irma?

Broward County and Miami-Dade residents who have sustained losses can begin applying for assistance by registering online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or calling 1-800-621-3362 from 7 AM to 10 PM any day of the week.

Florida Power and Light

To report a downed power line or power outage call 1-800-468-8243.

Traffic

For real-time traffic information, dial 511 on any landline or mobile device physically located in Florida, visit www.FL511.com, or download the FL 511 app on your mobile device.

Price Gouging

Call 1-866-966-7226 or visit www.myfloridalegal.com. Keep your receipt or take a photograph of the displayed charge to support your complaint.

Help for your business

The Small Business Administration Disaster Loan Program is now available to Broward and Miami-Dade businesses affected by Hurricane Irma. The loan application is available online at www.disasterloan.sba.gov/ela or call 1-800-659-2955.

Unemployed

The Employment and Training Administration is assisting in administering disaster unemployment insurance in Florida. Please visit www.benefits.gov/benefits/benefit-details/597 to learn more.

FEMA Assistance for Miami-Dade, Broward, Monroe and Palm Beach County Residents

Individuals can register online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov. or call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) for the hearing impaired call 1-800-462-7585. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. EDT seven days a week until further notice.

Citizens’ property insurance line: 866-411-2742.
