The Women's Foundation of Florida is offering a series of classes called "Women on the Run," that train women to run a campaign.

In what some are calling the "Year of the Woman" in politics, Florida women are running for office in record numbers. More than 100 ran for local and statewide office in the state’s primaries and won.

The Women’s Foundation of Florida is offering a series of classes called “Women on the Run.” Held once a month in West Palm Beach and Ft. Lauderdale, the classes are intended to train women on the campaign trail. Judith Selzer is President of the Women’s Foundation of Florida and director of “Women on the Run,” and Karen Velez is a student who took the course in 2017. Selzer and Velez joined Sundial to talk about the program.

New research from the U.S. Geological Survey (U.S.G.S.) finds concerning information about the snake population in Florida. Margaret Hunter, a researcher at U.S.G.S., examined the population of Burmese pythons and Indian pythons. Hunter found that both snakes have begun breeding and creating a new hybrid, which could be the largest and most dangerous snake to the Everglades. Hunter joined us in the studios to talk about her research.

The premise for the new Hollywood blockbuster “The Meg” comes from a massively popular adventure fiction book written by a West Palm Beach author. Steve Alten began writing The Meg series in August, 1995. He joined Sundial to share his story of diving into the world of adult fiction, a non-profit he started to get teens interested in books and his take on how the film compares to the book.
