Celebrity Cruises Changes COVID Vaccine Rules For Ships Leaving Florida

Updated Friday at 5:50 a.m.

Amid a looming showdown with Gov. Ron DeSantis, Celebrity Cruises has reached a compromise regarding its COVID-19 vaccination policy: Passengers won’t have to be vaccinated, but those who don’t show proof of vaccination will face restrictions and additional testing on board.

The cruise line’s Celebrity Edge is scheduled to set sail from Port Everglades on Saturday as part of its return to the seas following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cruise lines have been locked in a battle with DeSantis since he signed a law banning businesses from requiring vaccine passports. While Celebrity Cruises is still requiring passengers to be fully vaccinated on ships departing outside of Florida, the cruise line changed its Florida policy this week.
