Friday 9pm TOO LATE FOR TEARS (1949) Crime Drama - Through a fluke circumstance a ruthless woman stumbles across a suitcase filled with $60,000, and she is determined to hold onto it even if it means murder.

A cash hungry woman and her husband, a straightforward type, come into possession of a bag containing $60,000 in cash. This is a case of mistaken identity and our "heroine" joins forces with the blackmailer for whom it was intended, to dispatch her husband, who wanted to tell the police about it all along. But the calculating lady, who can't bring herself to share her windfall, contrives to poison her partner in crime.   When she escapes to Mexico, justice catches up to her and she is killed attempting to flee.

TRIVIA:

  • Roy Huggins wrote the screenplay, which is based on his "Saturday Evening Post" serial.
  • Adjusted for inflation, the $60,000 in the bag would be equivalent to over $613,000 in 2018.
  • Both of the film's female leads enjoyed long lives with Lizabeth Scott (age 92) and Kristine Miller (age 89) each passing away in 2015.
