Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Wendy Sartory Link has tested positive for COVID-19, but doesn’t know how she became infected. News of her infection comes on the heels of her hectic past month ahead of and during the election, which included making public appearances with President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
Her office on Thursday said she had tested positive for COVID, little more than a week after the Nov. 3 presidential election. It leaves unclear whether she was exposed before or after Election Day. According to the state Department of Health, people with COVID-19 typically report seeing symptoms within two to 14 days after exposure to the virus.
“I don’t have any symptoms,” Link told the South Florida Sun Sentinel on Thursday. Link added she didn’t know how she might’ve been infected, but said her office conducted COVID-19 tests a “pro-active” measure since they had been around a lot of people leading up to the election. The rest of her staff tested negative.
