Plans For New Coconut Grove Waterfront Are In

Grove Bay Investment Group has submitted a proposal for what may become "The Harbour" in historic Coconut Grove.

The city manager, city commission and Miami voters still have to approve plans for the area, which include a tree park, retail space and a monument or exhibit of South Florida aviation history.

Michelle Niemeyer, waterfront liasion for the Coconut Grove Village Council, posted all of the plans and proposals in a DropBox for the public. Blogger Tom Falco has more details on the plans at the Coconut Grove Grapevine.

Correlating Crime, Income In Homestead

A blogger at Homestead is Home was inspired by a recent US News & World Report article showing that households with less money tend to have higher property crime rates. 

The blogger then decided to overlay average income levels with a Google Maps image of Homestead and compared that information to poverty and crime levels in the area. He or she believes some recent property crimes in Keys Gate and North Gate may be related to these findings.

Meat Market Celebrates A Famous Winemaker

Meat Market restaurant on Lincoln Road is celebrating Robert Mondavi's birthday with a fixed-price ($95 per person), four-course menu featuring Mondavi's wines June 25. This dinner is the second in the restaurant's summer series of special events.

A blogger at The Chowfather has more details, including the menu. The blogger also attended and reviewed the first dinner of the summer series this year,  the proceeds of which went to The One Fund to aid victims of the recent Boston Marathon bombings tragedy.
