Daniella Levine Cava, Mayor of Miami-Dade County, hears arts advocates lobby against cuts to the Cultural Affairs Department’s arts grants at the Miami-Dade County budget hearing on Sept. 5, 2024.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava is set to present her proposed budget for the new fiscal year Tuesday.

The county is currently operating on a nearly $4 billion budget and faces a roughly $400 million deficit. It has resulted in Levine Cava signaling she is preparing for some administrative belt-tightening –with potentially looming spending cuts, layoffs and public fee hikes.

The package the mayor is considering includes stripping funding from the county's Office of New Americans — which helps legal permanent residents navigate the path to U.S. citizenship.

Levine Cava will present her proposed budget during a press conference at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Stephen P. Clark Center in Downtown Miami.
