Does The Sunshine State Have Holiday Spirit? Study Says No. Does Your Home Say Otherwise?

DOMINGUEZ FAMILY
/
MIAMI HERALD
The Dominguez house in Kendall has been dressing up for the holidays for the past 15 years.

The holidays are here and Floridians are bringing out the coquito, string lights and Christmas trees. But that might not be enough, a new study says Florida has about as much Christmas spirit as Ebenzer Scrooge.

According to GetCenturyLink.com, Florida is one of the states with the least Christmas spirit. It ranked 47th out of all 50 states. Tennessee, North Carolina and Alabama had the most holiday cheer.

The study looked at "online activity and area culture." The team used metrics such as the number of Google searches for Christmas movies and gingerbread houses, shopping trends, tweets, Christmas tree farms and charitable donations.

Are you one to get into the holiday spirit? If so, we'd like to hear from you. Send us a photo of your flashiest or ginchiest holiday decorations and we'll feature some of the best submissions on our social media.

You can send your responses to lovalle@wlrnnews.org with the subject line "decor."
