In response to the economic downturn due to COVID-19, the state budget for this fiscal year included over $1 billion in cuts. That's including nearly 30 projects and programs in Palm Beach County.

From community improvement plans to mental health services, loss of tax revenue resulted in Gov. Ron DeSantis vetoing many essential items from the state's $93.2 billion budget.

In Palm Beach County, hundreds of thousands of dollars were cut from items like the Exchange Club program, a child abuse prevention service, and the 211 Palm Beach/Treasure Coast helpline, a suicide and crisis intervention service.

Low-income housing and underserved children took a huge hit.

The Early Learning to Kindergarten Project and the Youth Empowerment Program for teens in Riviera Beach each lost $150,000.
