Election Rundown, New Project Aims To Build Eco-friendly Affordable Housing & Holocaust 'Rescuers'

Miami-Dade County will have elections on Tuesday and there are a number of key races that voters should be informed about. WLRN’s Danny Rivero is following District 1, Miami Herald’s Joey Flechas is following District 2 and Martin Vassolo is following the races on Miami Beach. They joined Sundial to talk about key referendums and commissioner seats that residents will vote on.

South Florida Housing Link

A new project called “South Florida’s Housing Link Collaborative”is a partnership between a number of nonprofits to build hundreds of affordable housing units along the Florida East Coast Railroad train tracks where the Brightline train runs. JPMorgan Chase & Co. has invested $5 million to the project for affordable, resilient and eco-friendly housing near public transportation. Mandy Bartle, the Executive Director of the South Florida Community Land Trust, one of the key partners in the new initiative joined Sundial to explain where they’re targeting new housing opportunities in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties. 

Holocaust “Rescuers” Exhibit

The new Holocaust “Rescuers” exhibit at the Levis JCC Sandler Center in Boca Raton tells the incredible stories of those who rescued Jews during the Holocaust. Photographer Gay Block and writer Malka Drucker spent three years interviewing individuals who hid, protected and saved Jews. Block is in town to give a talk at the exhibition and joined Sundial to share her experience interviewing and photographing the rescuers.
