South Florida Businessmen Campaign Violations
Last week, the Palm Beach Post published finance documents that showed that businessmen Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman donated at least $281,000 to Republicans in Florida and federal campaigns. Remembering Elijah Cummings
Democratic Representative Elijah Cummings died on Thursday from long-standing health complications at age 68. Cummings was a longtime civil rights advocate and as Chair of the House Oversight Committee, dedicated his career to transparency and accountability in government. On Thursday, South Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, of Florida's 26th District, joined Sundial to discuss the impact Cummings had on Congress and the legacy he left behind. We also discussed healthcare policies and the 2020 presidential race.
Miami-Dade County Public Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho has been the head of the school district for over a decade. His tenure is more than three times the average amount of time someone in his position spends in a major city. Miami Herald’s Education reporter Colleen Wright joined Sundial to discuss her recent profile on Carvalho and a new Miami Dade College program that allows inmates to enroll in constitutional law and psychology courses.
