Coronation Britain (9:00 p.m.)
Coronation Britain documents the time span between the beginning of the young queen's reign — with the death of King George VI — and her coronation 16 months later. She was elevated to the sovereign role in a country still depressed, suffering and broken from the aftermath of World War II, and became queen of an empire that was crumbling around her. As well as grieving for her beloved father, the young queen had to contend with a husband who had to give up his promising career for her, two small children, and conflicting advice from palace officials and politicians about how she should conduct her reign.
Midsomer Murders: Tale of Two Hamlets, Part 2 (10:00 p.m.)
The Death of a young film star at the opening of a "satanic experience" at his family's ancestral home brings Barnaby and Troy to the feuding villages of Upper and Lower Warden. Here the Smythe-Websters are exploiting the work of celebrated House of Satan author Ellis Bell — but is there more to his legacy?
