Acting president Joe Echevarria will be the seventh president of the University of Miami, following a unanimous Board of Trustees vote on Friday morning.

Preliminary data released by the University of Miami revealed Black student enrollment fell from 9% to 5% for the Class of 2028. This is the first class impacted by the 2023 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that overturned affirmative action, preventing a race-conscious admission process.

The two-day summit, hosted at the University of Miami, challenged leaders to think about how environmental preservation can support development instead of standing in the way of it.

The tuition price falls within the range of several other private universities and is lower than UM sister schools University of Southern California with a yearly tuition of $69,904 and Tulane University with a tuition of $68,678.
