More Made In Miami Conferences

Latino Leaders Magazine

South Florida has always been a prime location for out-of-town conferences and conventions. But recently there's  a growing number of local organizations putting together these events from their own backyard.

Miami-based conferences are pulling in major corporate sponsors and attendees from all over the world and speakers from the White House, Google and Facebook.

One of the events coming up is Hispanicize, which highlights U.S. Hispanic trend setters in music, film and media. Hispanicize started five years ago but moved to Miami in 2012.  Manny Ruiz, who started Hispanicize, plans to keep the event in Miami. An estimated 1700 people will be in attendance throughout the four-day event next month.

Program director of the Knight Foundation, Matt Haggman, thinks that this trend says a lot about our community.

"The more that we have these compelling gatherings and conferences, the more we’re finding out that there’s really an insatiable appetite here to connect around ideas," said Haggman.
