Despite some scheduling issues, the third annual Gay8 festival is still on.

Organizers threatened to cancel the event altogether and boycott city of Miami events after they realized a January date they wanted for the festival had been given to the Three Kings Parade.

At a press conference Thursday morning at the Cubaocho Museum and Performing Arts Center, Gay8 organizers announced that they'd worked with the city to find a solution. The festival is now scheduled to take place Sunday Feb. 18.

"We are grateful to the city of Miami for understanding our constraints and appreciating our position," said Damian Pardo, Gay8 organizer. "We also look forward to working with the city to improve the permit process so that a situation like this one never happens again."
