Monorail Would Link Hard Rock Stadium To Broward — Costing Millions Per Mile

Gregory Stuart, the Broward MPO discusses future transportation possibilities that they experienced in China and Japan as solutions for congestion.

Broward and Miami-Dade transit planners are revving up a proposal for a monorail system that would whisk commuters between the two counties.

It would be paid for in part by dipping into Broward’s transit-oriented penny sales tax collections that were green-lighted by voters last November.

It’s unclear how a project of this type would affect Tri-Rail and Brightline, the existing South Florida rail lines that both have expansion plans. But planners and some politicians in both counties are eager to get their monorail proposal onto the playing field.
