Voter information on a table at the Palm Beach County Library in West Palm Beach. The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections' office set up tables to help people register across the county.

Tuesday is National Voter Registration Day, and marks a cross-country effort to encourage citizens to get ready to exercise their right to vote.

In Palm Beach County, the Supervisor of Elections office was tabling in eight libraries, city commission chambers and other spaces across the county to remind people to either register or make sure their registration was up-to-date. A website for the national ‘holiday’ also listed a registration event at North Miami Beach Library, and the Broward County Democratic Party was soliciting volunteers to help register voters at the courthouse in Fort Lauderdale.

Florida voters with an eye toward the presidential primary still have a lot of time to get their information in order — the registration deadline for the March primary isn’t until mid-February. Florida has closed primaries, which means voters have to affiliate with a party in order to vote in the primary.

Not sure if you’re registered, or whether you have the right address or name on file? The Florida Department of State has a lookup tool here.

Registration can be done in person or by mail with the county Supervisor of Elections, or online with the Department of State here

As of August 31, 2019:

  • Palm Beach County had 957,741 registered voters
  • Broward County had 1,192,385 registered voters
  • Miami-Dade County had 1,439,237 registered voters
  • Monroe County had 54,191 registered voters
