George Floyd's death in Minnesota prompted protests nationwide after a bystander's video of his arrest surfaced on social media.

In the disturbing video, which shows him pinned to the pavement by the knee of a white Minneapolis officer, Floyd, who is black, could be heard saying "Please, please, please,  I can't breathe. Please, man." It ends with paramedics lifting his motionless body onto a stretcher and placing him in an ambulance.

The four officers involved in the incident were fired on Tuesday. The FBI has been called in to probe for possible civil rights violations. On Thursday, the Justice Department called its investigation into George Floyd's death a "top priority" for the agency.

A wave of protests and violence has continued in Minneapolis since his death Monday night. It also sparked demonstrations as far away as Los Angeles. Floyd's family members are calling for the officers to be charged with murder.
