A state trooper posted racially charged messages on social media that suggested he would act violently against protesters and “give them good lead."

Cpl. Daniel Maldonado, 36, posted the messages in the private WhatsApp chat app. The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles fired Maldonado and another employee after the South Florida Sun Sentinel alerted the department to the posts.

Maldonado indicated he was on his way to Tampa to help quell civil unrest there. He sent a photo that appeared to show the back seat of a car loaded with a cooler full of food and water bottles, with a Highway Patrol uniform and what appeared to be a rifle in the frame.
