Former star running back reunites with his Heisman Trophy

JUANA SUMMERS, HOST:

After 14 years, Reggie Bush will be reunited with his Heisman Trophy. The former NFL and Southern California running back won the title for being the best college football player in 2005, and then he was stripped of it. Bush forfeited his trophy after an NCAA investigation found that he and his family received improper monetary benefits during his time at USC.

AILSA CHANG, HOST:

But the Heisman Trust announced today that they've been considering the, quote, "enormous changes" in college athletics, like the introduction of players getting paid for use of their name, their image and likeness. And the Heisman Trust says they're happy to welcome Bush back to the family.

SUMMERS: Bush has been vocal about wanting his Heisman Trophy back ever since 2021, when college athletes were allowed to be paid.

CHANG: The Heisman Trust says Bush will get his trophy returned. It should look nice next to his Super Bowl ring.
