Congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen Talks Retirement, Hate Speech At UF, Miami Heat Preview

Miami Herald
Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen will retire next year.

Today in Sundial: Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen announced earlier this year that she would not be running for office again in 2018. That brings to an end almost 40 years of public service. The Republican legislator joins us to discuss why she made the choice to end her political career, as well as chiming in about some of the big issues being debated on Capitol Hill.

Gainesville officials and residents are bracing themselves for the arrival of white nationalist Richard Spencer. Police and state troopers are at the ready in case protesters become violent. Spencer was one of the speakers scheduled to speak at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville where different groups clashed and one anti-Nazi protester was killed. NPR's Greg Allen joins us to give us a feel for the tension that is  growing on the campus of the University of Florida.
