The indoor sea turtle hospital at Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach is usually off limits to visitors. But now you can go inside — virtually — as part of a daily series of live videos the center is offering while schools are closed because of COVID-19.
The center is one of several South Florida museums, nonprofits, cultural institutions and attractions publishing digital resources for a more engaging version of at-home learning.

Hannah Campbell, the marine life center’s director of education, said the behind-the-scenes tour of the sea turtle hospital lets viewers watch the healing process in action. One example is Citrus, a 200-pound female Loggerhead sea turtle being treated at the center for a condition called chronic debilitation.
“During this difficult time … people need something that is hopeful and something that … is going to bring them a little peace and a smile,” Campbell said. “We call that a daily dose of vitamin ‘sea.’”
Another Loggerhead sea turtle, Miko, is on display on the aquarium livestream at Miami’s Frost Museum of Science. The livestream also features hammerhead and Silky sharks, devil rays and tuna.
“Miko has the most adorable personality, and she's very playful and likes to watch and is curious with what's going on in her world around her,” said Angela Colbert, vice president for education at the museum.
