Tuesday is Election Day for five municipalities in Broward County, electing city commissioners or their equivalent. -
Coconut Creek is electing three city commissioners. Deerfield Beach District 3 needs a city commissioner. Hillsboro Beach is electing a town commissioner. Miramar is electing three city commissioners. Sea Ranch Lakes needs a village council member. -
Democrat Joe Scott made it through his own recount during the August primary election, to win big on Nov. 3. He inherits leadership of an elections office with a checkered record for citizen trust. -
Newcomers unseating incumbents. Close city commission races in Dania Beach and Hallandale Beach. Broward County's political makeup has shifted slightly after the most recent election.

Elections workers in Lauderhill finished recounting a judicial race by hand Friday afternoon. Just before 5 p.m. the canvassing board certified the official results of the entire 2020 general election in the county. -
Recounting the overvotes and undervotes in the Davie and Hallandale Beach races by hand began Thursday afternoon. Recounting the countywide judicial race will take most, if not all of, Friday.

Early voting ballots were printed with ink that has been difficult for the counting machines to read at the correct pace. It's caused the elections office to recount these early ballots an extra time. -
