Miami condo market

Broward County's condo market was the weakest in the region in January with sales down, prices falling and inventory growing. Palm Beach County's condo sales jumped to begin the year while they held even in Miami-Dade.

Robert Nordlund of Association Reserves says condo boards should expect that buildings deteriorate. He says always low monthly assessments could mean the board isn't budgeting for building needs.

Latin Americans are major buyers of South Florida condominiums and many feared lost in Surfside are from that region. Realtors and experts say it likely won't affect future interest.
