Michael Tilson Thomas, affectionately known as MTT, died Wednesday at age 81 after more than four years battling an aggressive form of brain cancer. He co-founded the New World Symphony in Miami Beach in 1987, which has helped launch the careers of over 1,300 musicians worldwide and leaves a lasting legacy in South Florida's cultural scene.
